Preparation:
Before preparation, wash your hands, and be sure you have everything you need.
Remove the protective cap from the vial. With one alcohol swab, clean both the rubber top of the vial that contains the product.
Measuring the Dose to Be Injected:

Draw back plunger before inserting needle into vial. Insert needle into vial. Release air into vial by pushing the plunger in. Slowly draw back the plunger. Draw past your recommended dosage. Push the excess air and product back into the vial. Remove air bubbles by gently flicking syringe. Bubbles should rise to top. Push plunger until all air bubbles escape and product can be seen at the tip of the needle.
Injecting:
SHOULDER INJECTION:

Find the center of your deltoid by measuring 3-4 finger lengths from the top of your shoulder. This will be your injection site. Thoroughly swab your injection site with an alcohol wipe.

Let your arm hang loose. Keep the shoulder muscles relaxed. Insert the needle into the injection site and inject your medication by pushing down on the plunger. Remove the needle and dispose in your sharps box. Re-swab the injection site with alcohol. Gently massage the injection site for 30 seconds.

GLUTE INJECTION:
The correct injection area is Q2. IMPORTANT: Never inject near Q1.

Take the weight off the side of your body you'll be injecting by placing your foot behind you. Find the upper outer quadrant of the gluteus [Q2, see above diagram]. Place your thumb on your hip and reach around to your Gluteocks with your index finger. This will be your injection site. Thoroughly swab your injection site with an alcohol wipe.

Keep the Glute muscles relaxed by shifting all your weight to your opposite foot. Insert the needle into the injection site at a downward angle and inject your medication by pushing down on the plunger. Remove the needle and dispose in your sharps box. Re-swab the injection site with alcohol. Gently massage the injection site for 30 seconds.

After Injecting:

Discard the injection materials.

Dispose the syringes safely in a closed container. You can ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist for a "sharps" container. A sharps container is a special container to put used needles and syringes in. You can return a full sharps container to your pharmacist or healthcare provider for disposal.

Before each use disinfect the rubber top of the vial with an alcohol swab. You MUST use a new disposable syringe and needle for each injection.
The solution should be clear. If the solution is cloudy or contains particles, discard the vial. Do not inject the medicine from this vial. Start over with a new vial.
